Smoked Candied Nuts

Ingredients

  • 40 oz mixed unsalted nuts
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cinnamon ground

Instructions

  • Preheat your smoker to 300°F.
  • Add the egg whites and vanilla extract to a small bowl and whisk until foamy.
  • Add the brown sugar and cinnamon to another bowl and stir until well combined.
  • Add the mixed nuts to a large mixing bowl, add the egg white mixture, and stir until the nuts are well coated.
  • Add the sugar cinnamon mixture to the nuts and stir until all of the nuts are well coated.
  • Spread the nuts on a baking sheet and place them on the smoker for 1½ hours or until they are golden brown and crunchy.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

You can use any wood pellets that you like. I used the Bear Mountain Gourmet BBQ pellets for this recipe and it gave my nuts a beautiful, balanced smoky flavor.
