I have had my grill for a year and a half now and it still looks like new.  I cook on it 3-5 times a week too.  I do keep it covered and under the patio roof when I am not using it and clean it regularly.  Like anything else...proper care and this will outlast every grill I have ever owned!

I bought this grill a couple of weeks ago and putting it together and the thermostats don't work on the charcoal or the smoker. They are broke. I use this grill almost every day. Excellent choice for everything Grilled, smoked, and baked

Great Grill

I bought this grill as a Xmas gift to myself but was unable to set up until this summer due to traveling. First off putting the grill together with the video you can watch from pit boss made this a breeze. It is heavy so if you do not build it at the final destination you will need help lifting. 
I always wanted to try smoking and this beauty does great. I will recommend you purchase a funnel to add more water because sliding out the water tray or pouring in water is tough. I use a funnel and keep a pitcher of water handy. 

The charcoal side was great and you can set the level of charcoal as you cook so as the coal burns down you can raise level to keep temperatures even. 

The gas side is your basic grill and performs just like it is supposed to. With plenty of space. 

I showed this off to my buddies and they all raved at how good it looked and how much food I could prepare at one time. 

My only complaint and it's a small one is no side burner. Not that I used it much in past but we do enjoy frying fish on it. 

Make sure you get the grill cover it fits perfectly because you will want this baby to last.

one of the best things i've ever put together with every screw hole on point. just needed numbers on the parts and it would be perfect.

Let me get this outta the way first....wife got the Memphis Ultimate for early birthday present cuz she knows how much I love grilling and smoking various cuts of meat. When we took all the components out of box, both end corners on gas side and charcoal side was bent pretty bad....almost decided to return it but instead took a chance with a hammer to try and smooth it out. So really disappointed it came like that.
Now onto functions itself...the smoker is badass but some smoke does seap thru right side of smoker door but not enough to make a difference. I rate the smoker 8.5/10 it worked that good the first time out. Haven't used gas side yet but have used the charcoal and love the height leveling feature although I'd like a little more room for extra charcoal. So far, overall I'm quite impressed with it. I've included some photos of the cook and the areas bent which is something I'd like to address with someone from Pit Boss-Grills soon! I would easily have given 5 stars but because of some damage out the box...I didn't.

One Amazing Combo!

My only regret is that I could not invite more friends over to share it, but I'm preparing now for when this ends.  Regarding pit boss performance, the smoker seals well without the thermocouple wires, but with them the 2 bungees shown in the picture.  Regarding the wood chip tray, over the course of 11 hours in the smoking chamber the ash seems to clog the air holes on the bottom, so every few hours it is best to dump the ash tray to clear the ash and start the smoking new (not just adding chips to the reduced embers).  I opened the smoking door every 1-1.5 hours to refill the water tray when smoke was low before refreshing the chip tray.
Smoked the asparagus by opening the vents from the smoke chamber for 2 hours to the propane grill.  For comparison, we did 1/2 the asparagus normally.  Both were delicious, but 2 very different treats.
Smoked mozzarella in the charcoal grill chamber by opening the smoke vents to it for 1 hour.  It turned out awesome also; even the wife liked it (not a fan of smoked cheese in general).  I might never by charcoal; just use that chamber for smoking cheese (I am a fan).  With ambient temperature 40oF-60oF, easy to regulate the best cheese smoking temperature with vent control.
A couple other comments of things I did not anticipate when I asked Santa for it.  40 minutes to clean up, minimum.  And, I am spending much time on my knees tending to the chips, filling the water pan, adjusting the thermocouple locations.  Fortunately, I have a got mat an patio location for that.

The box seemed to have water damage, which didn't really bother me but when we took the pieces out there was already rust. Thankfully it still works properly but should have been less for what we got!

We started off on a bad note having our first one damaged. Pit Boss couldn't careless said to exchange at Walmart for another one. Long story short and 5 trips later, 3 grills later (2 damaged, 1 manufacture error)and finally have it all together and Pit Boss has me furious by now. Mother's Day weekend family invited over and all these issues. Go to use the grill/smoker and realize no bulb for the light for smoker.  Everything seems to stick lime crazy on the grill size even if I oil the meat first. Not impressed at all. The charcoal side burnt so intense you have to use heat gloves to touch the handle on the lid. Completely scorched it and changed the color. Looks crappy now. Completely not impressed with the smoker first time we used it it dropped temp twice on us, second time it wouldn't get hot enough again to finish cooking. Pork roast were so tough and tasted terrible. We had to throw the meat all away. We have used it now maybe 5 times and the igniters quit working already. I'm thinking we need to just give up and return the grill for something different. We are experienced and familiar with all aspects if using a grill-smoker-Charcoal but we we're jinxed from the beginning on this one. We had all intentions of getting a griddle and upright smoker as well but with the way Pit Boss has dealt with all of this I am very disappointed in them. They made Walmart deal with it not them. Pit Boss offered to send us 2 seasonings for under $20 to help make us happy(Not Even Close). My son bought a Blackstone a week before us and has used it almost daily since with no flaws. Guess I should have followed his lead. Very Disappointed Customer! I have 3 days to return it, guess I'm going to look at grills today. Thank you Walmart for making it right with us.

Disappointed in Pit Boss

1st of all, the assembly process is very long it's not hard, just a lot of pieces. when I say a lot, it is a ridiculous amount of assembly. I mean a few hours. If your store offers assembly, take it it's worth it whatever it costs. Then I was 2 hours in the assembly process, and I saw that the side of the main section of the grill is smashed in. Luckily, I was able to straighten it out for the most part. Frustrated would be putting it nicely. Needless to say, I had a few choice words. I also found a few other minor dings and scratches. Then I found out that this is not the Memphis model that you can send the smoke through the grills, which is one of the things I wanted. I tried out the smoker, and it worked OK on a roast and a venison backstrap, but when it came to doing more precise, lower temperatures for sticks and jerky, this smoker was horrible There is no consistency to the heat. I made a batch of snack sticks That were the same length as the racks and when they were done cooking some of them would be burnt on one end just write in another and underdone on another section on the same stick same rack. I put 4 different temperature probes in different spots, and everyone was 10 to 20ﾟdifferent and trying to get it to hold one consistent temperature is impossible. I was cooking in little to no wind, one consistent outdoor temperature, and I had  20 to 30ﾟ temperature swings. For such a small smoker, having this much of a temperature range is crazy. As far as the gas and the charcoal grill, I've never tried them. I returned it before I had a chance. As a whole, the unit looks very nice. I wish the smoker was better. I really wanted to like this grill.
